about us

Duane got his first Siberian Husky in 1998, competed in obedience but soon realised this was not for him or his dog Logan, we were invited to attend a KUSA conformation show hosted by the Siberian Husky Club of Gauteng and we were hooked. It soon became clear that Logan was not going to be competitive and so the journey started. Northwind Siberian Huskies was registered with the Kennel Union of Southern Africa (KUSA) in 2001, together with his partner Warren (current chairman of the Siberian Husky Club of Gauteng), SpiritKeeper was registered with KUSA in 2020.

We are a small show kennel based in Johannesburg, South Africa, since the onset we have been blessed to own and bred multiple Best In Show , Best in Specialty Show winners, our kennel is based on several bloodlines: Highlander (USA), Snowmist (Canada), Demavand (USA), Canyonland (Australia), Karnovanada (USA), Innisfree (USA), Hightower (Germany). We have imported several dogs to diversify the bloodlines currently available in South Africa. We are currently home to 12 Siberians of which majority have completed their champion status, several are Grand Champions as well as Internation (FCI) Champions. We also work our dogs in harness during the winter months.

We pride ourselves in our dogs temperaments, all of our dogs are family members first and foremost, our puppies are born and raised inside our house and all of our dogs live together in a pack environment. Good temperament is of utmost importance.

We occasionally have puppies available to approved family homes, we usually breed 1 - 2 litters per year, every breeding is carefully planned, pedigrees compared, health tests (eyes, hips & elbows) done on the proposed parents before even considering them for a breeding program. All of our puppies are sold on a strict pet contract which requires them to be sterilized and returned to us should owners not be able to keep them throughout their lives.

We hope you enjoy your visit.
